Sylvia Wood has over twenty five years’ experience in human resources and employment relations.

Sylvia is a generalist with in-depth experience in employment relations and the gamut of human resources including restructuring, personal grievance management, mediation, exit strategies, performance management, disciplinary processes and union negotiations. She has extensive experience in interventions to improve employee engagement, large-scale change management, organizational review and strategic planning.

She has a wealth of experience advising employers during buoyant economies, flat markets and during times of recession.

Sylvia’s background in HR includes senior management roles in FMCG and the IT sector. She established a consulting practice in 1989 providing advice to NZ corporates, central and local government organisations and private sector businesses. Recognising that small to medium-sized businesses need the same level of advice as larger organisations she established Knowhow Limited in 2000.

Associate

Emma joined Knowhow Limited in January 2015. She has a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Human Resource Management from University of Otago.

Bringing strong theoretical knowledge to the job Emma has developed a sound applied knowledge of human resources, employment relations and employment legislation. She works closely with Sylvia on all aspects of disciplinary and performance management processes, absenteeism and incapacity issues and manages the development of solutions to wide ranging HR queries.

She is a wonderful team player, receives great feedback from our clients for her intelligence, her service orientation, her ability to develop workable solutions and her appreciation of the commercial realities of business.

Rebecca has over 20 years’ experience in human resources and recruitment.

Rebecca has recently joined Knowhow coming from a Global Organisation where she lead an HR function.

Rebecca has worked in multiple industries including manufacturing, corporate, global, small to medium sized businesses, private and public sector.

Bringing a wealth of experience, Rebecca has the full remit of HR generalist, employment relations, change management, coaching, HR operations and process / project management with a passion for technology to support businesses.

Rebecca’s passion is ensuring that businesses and employers, whether large or small, are set up for success, with the right people, in the right jobs, and with the right skills and the right processes.

Rebecca tailors her approach to businesses to ensure that they are set up for success whilst remaining compliant to the ever-changing complexity of the employment relations landscape.

Graduate HR Advisor

Paige is an HR Graduate with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology from the University of Otago.

Eager to learn through Knowhow, since starting in June she has taken a particular liking to disciplinary investigation processes and looks forward to developing her knowledge in all aspects of HR and ER related matters.

As she continues to grow at Knowhow, she hopes to apply her knowledge to organisational psychology.

Excited about the journey ahead, she is looking forward to connecting with Knowhow clients.

Practice Executive

Kerry is our specialist on the Holidays Act and parental leave. The guardian of our product library, she ensures the employment agreements, policy manuals, recruitment, induction and performance review systems are managed and compliant.

Kerry supports the team with the documentation of performance management processes, restructuring and disciplinary matters and manages our administration.

Kerry brings over 20 years of experience in administration and office management having been PA to the Finance Director of British Telecom in London and PA to a private merchant banker in Bermuda prior to settling in NZ with her family.
